Set in the turbulent south in the 1950s, Memphis is the story of Huey Calhoun, a white radio DJ whose love of good music transcends racial lines and airwaves. Thanks in part to his passionate persistence, "race" music reaches the center of the radio dial, quickly exploding throughout mainstream America. But when Huey falls for Felicia Farrell (Glover), a beautiful black singer he has set on the path to stardom, their relationship—and the attitude of record buyers in Memphis and beyond—is put to the test. "Someday" is Felicia's hit single in the show, the song that propels her to fame in the music world.
Memphis features a score with music by David Bryan of Bon Jovi and lyrics by Joe DiPietro. The original cast recording is now available on Rhino Records.
